Cycling in Louth, Tain Trail Cycling Route

"Louth is ideal for the cycling visitor, the countryside is attractive and the cycling is challenging and varied." - Stephen Roche (International Cycling Champion)

The Táin Trail Cycling Route is the longest and most historic cycling route in Ireland.  The trail is based on the ancient Irish epic of the Táin Bó Cuailgne or the Catlle Raid of Cooley and follows (as closely as possible) the path of Queen Maeve and her army in her pursuit of the great Brown Bull of Cooley.   As you cycle through this warm and welcoming landscape you will encounter the magnificent Cooley Mountains, breathtaking views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains.

Or if you are visiting Drogheda and the Boyne Valley, discover the historical sites by bike.  Local cycle hire is available, see below for details.
