The Lumpers; Walkers Haven, Ravensdale.

The Lumpers bar and cafe is located in picturesque Ballymakellet, Ravensdale with Trumpet Hill in front of it and the Cooley Mountains behind it.  The Cooley mountains have a number of walks including the Slieve Foy National Loop Walk, Barnavave Loop, Commons Loop, Annaloughan Loop and Táin Way (Ballymakellet to Carlingford).

The Lumpers is unique because it is situated on the Táin Way (which follows the trail of the Táin Bó Cúalinge where Queen Maeve travelled to steal the Brown Bull of Cooley).  There are some beautiful walks in the area starting and finishing at the Lumpers, making it ideal for some well earned refreshments and some craic.  The bar and newly refurbished cafe and takeaway can cater for all your needs.

Facilities available for Hill Walkers/Cyclists at the Lumpers:

  • Plenty of free car parking.
  • Male and Female changing rooms, showers and toilets.  (Showers €2 & towels €1, payable at the bar)
  • Mini bus available for drop off and pick up at the start/finish points of walks.
  • Bicycle shelters and bike wash.
  • Cafe serving a range of quick snacks, healthy options and main courses.
  • Packages for groups can be arranged.  Contact John Lambe with any questions, or to make arrangements for your walking group on 087 2665688
