Louth Craftmark

Louth Craftmark was set up in 2000 to represent craft makers in County Louth, in a co-ordinated and concerted effort to stimulate the development of the craft sector. From the outset Louth Craftmark had a strategic focus to tackle economic hardship, entrepreneurship skills deficits and social barriers faced by craftspeople living and working in County Louth.

Since 2000 Louth Craftmark has offered skills development through workshop based training, exhibitions, showcase events, craft fairs, professional development mentoring and networking opportunities. These actions have helped develop the innovative capability of craft makers & designers to diversify sources of employment and income.

In 2005 our development programme assisted a group of local craftspeople to formalise their network as Louth Craftmark Designers Network and in 2006 we established a limited company to manage the operations of a network-led retail gallery, Louth Craftmark at Highlanes Gallery, in Drogheda.

Louth is recognised as an area of emerging strength in terms of arts, culture, craft and design activities. In recent years Louth Craftmark has evolved to offer support to a range of creative enterprises through its close involvement with the Creative Enterprise Development Programme at Louth County Enterprise Board. This evolution has led to a new initiative – Creative Spark, Louth Creative Community Hub, a new centre which will offer workspace and training facilities for the creative sector in County Louth.
