Ardee Baroque Festival
Ardee Baroque is a festival which is firmly rooted in the town of Ardee.
During the week of the festival, local retailers offer special festival discounts, and restaurants, with which Ardee and Collon are well endowed, offer great value pre-concert menus. Ardee itself is a picturesque small town, surrounded by the fertile, rolling fields of mid-Louth. With two castles on its main street. Ardee is also steeped in myth and legend, with its town centre ford providing the backdrop to the mortal combat of Setanta and Cúchulainn, as described in the Táin Bó Culaigne.
Musically, a diverse range of performers have performed as part of the festival since the inception of Ardee Baroque in 2004. Opus Anglicanum, Siobhán Armstrong, Resurgam, The Classic Buskers, William Dowdall, John Feeley, Gerald Peregrine, Mark Duley, New York Polyphony, Running Beast, Dunedin Consort and Malcolm Proud have all graced the castles and churches of Ardee and Collon.
